Position Overview

The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Department Head or General Manager. This role primarily involves overseeing daily operational functions and managing staff in their respective duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to support business needs and career growth opportunities. The aim is to ensure guest satisfaction and seamless hotel operations by supervising various back-of-house departments in the absence of senior management. This individual will assist in driving hotel profitability through effective revenue management, cost control, guest satisfaction, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Rooms or Food & Beverage departments within a hotel; or a 4-year degree with 1-2 years of relevant experience; or a 2-year degree with 2 years of experience in a similar setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems is required.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate and select among various courses of action.
  • Capable of performing well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues.
  • Strong listening and communication skills to understand and address concerns raised by guests and staff.
  • Ability to work with financial data and perform basic arithmetic functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with guests and employees in a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company standards, which may vary based on hotel needs.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming in line with company dress code.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • As needed, oversee the hotel’s operations in the absence of the General Manager, particularly in Engineering and Housekeeping.
  • Foster an environment where employees feel empowered to make decisions that enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports as required by corporate guidelines.
  • Participate in management coverage as scheduled.
  • Ensure training in service standards is effectively implemented across departments.
  • Support the General Manager in recruitment, hiring, and training for Guest Services based on occupancy levels.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, team-oriented environment focused on guest experience through employee development.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs through regular inspections.
  • Ensure all employees are consistently attentive, friendly, and efficient in their interactions.
  • Maintain a professional relationship and open communication with all departments.
  • Complete required corporate training modules and obtain necessary certifications.
