Southern Oregon University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Theatre: Lighting, Sound, and Projections to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in lighting, sound, and projections for theatre production, as well as serving as an academic advisor for undergraduate design and technical students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in lighting, sound, and projections for theatre production
  • Serve as an academic advisor for undergraduate design and technical students
  • Supervise student crews in the technical requirements of departmental productions
  • Provide technical support for smaller events
  • Participate in curriculum development, research, and professional affiliations
  • Engage in service activities within the department, school, and institution
Requirements:
  • MFA in Theatre or a related discipline from an accredited institution
  • At least one year of university teaching experience and professional credits in lighting, sound, and/or projections for theatre
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff
  • Experience leading student or novice crews in stage lighting and sound installation
  • Experience with ETC Lighting systems and industry-standard lighting and sound equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Traditional and online teaching experience in a college or university setting in lighting, sound, or projections
  • Experience in lighting for stage, film, or industrials
  • Experience with sound design and reinforcement for live performance
  • Experience with CAD drafting preferably VectorWorks and Lightwright
  • Five years teaching or industry experience at a professional level
  • Experience with automated lighting, show control, projection design and editing tools-Q-Lab, Adobe Suite, projection mapping software
