Job Title: Technical Coordinator for Stage Lighting and Sound

This is a technical coordinator position for stage lighting and sound at Southern Oregon University. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to coordinate an intensive lighting and sound curriculum and supervise undergraduate student crews.

The position will maintain the sound and lighting equipment for our 300-seat Main Stage, the smaller Black Box, and student showcase venue. The Technical Coordinator for Stage Lighting and Sound will instruct up to one course per term and provide technical lighting and sound support for occasional collaborative projects with the Digital Cinema, Emerging Media and Digital Arts, Music, and Art departments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stage lighting and sound, with experience as a lighting and sound technician for professional and/or university productions. They will also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, student performers, designers, technicians, guest artists, and directors.

The position requires a high level of diplomacy and professionalism to effectively handle a broad range of sensitive interpersonal situations. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a heavily bureaucratic environment and have a willingness to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.

The Technical Coordinator for Stage Lighting and Sound will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment in control booths, lighting shops, and theater catwalks. They will also be responsible for providing basic lighting and sound reinforcement for special events or rental of theater spaces in coordination with the Department Chair and the Building Manager.
