Job Overview:

As a key player in our engineering team, you will:
  • Steer the manufacturing engineering initiatives for a specific product category, fostering collaboration across various departments and within the engineering sector.
  • Actively contribute to the formulation and execution of engineering strategies focused on enhancing capabilities, increasing capacity, and optimizing processes in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to manufacturing engineers, ensuring proficiency in engineering tools, methodologies, and competencies.
  • Assess current manufacturing workflows and pinpoint opportunities for enhancements in efficiency, productivity, process capability, risk management, and cost reduction.
  • Devise and implement enhancements aimed at improving yield, minimizing waste, boosting throughput, shortening cycle times, alleviating bottlenecks, and streamlining operations while strictly adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Work in conjunction with Process Excellence and Data Science teams to utilize data for process enhancement.
  • Collaborate across functions to transition new products from conception to production, ensuring smooth integration into existing manufacturing workflows.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Reliability Engineering to guarantee equipment uptime and reliability, integrating predictive maintenance strategies for long-term solutions.
  • Lead or support the development of new equipment installations or modifications, focusing on maximizing output, minimizing downtime, and mitigating operational risks.
  • Employ data analysis and statistical methods to identify bottlenecks, process variability, and areas for improvement in production workflows. Implement data-driven solutions to enhance overall efficiency while managing operational risks.
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to proactively identify potential failure points, risks, and weaknesses in processes and equipment. Develop strategies to reduce operational risks and enhance process reliability in collaboration with Reliability Engineering.
  • Establish and oversee manufacturing process control plans. Implement in-process measurement systems and complete GR&R activities to ensure effectiveness. Set up process monitoring and trending, including SPC of critical parameters.
  • Perform process capability studies to forecast manufacturing process trends, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and stability in daily operations.
  • Collaboratively troubleshoot manufacturing challenges, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures to avert recurrence.
  • Engage in the selection and evaluation of equipment, tools, and materials to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness, with a focus on enhancing productivity and minimizing operational risks. Collaborate with Controls Engineering for advanced automation solutions.
  • Assist the Process Excellence Engineering team in promoting Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive efficiency gains and elevate overall operational excellence. Support training and mentoring teams in these methodologies to foster a culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and risk reduction.
  • Work alongside the Quality Assurance team to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain product quality and safety, emphasizing the reduction of operational risks. Collaborate closely with this team to enhance quality control processes.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineering to optimize and leverage automation and digitalization.
  • Maintain precise documentation, including process manuals, standard operating procedures, and equipment specifications, with a focus on enhancing documentation practices.
  • Alongside the leadership team, ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, as well as customer requirements. Interpret and communicate customer requirements to production and support teams. Establish and audit PCPs, CCPs, and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, ensuring customer requirements are met. Review incidents where procedures are not followed and determine appropriate corrective actions.
What you need to excel:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or any related engineering field). A Master's degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in the food industry or a related field is beneficial but not essential.
  • A solid understanding of food safety regulations and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA) or the ability to comprehend and learn this area is required.
  • Project management experience is advantageous.
  • A collaborative mindset and exceptional communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
