Job Title: Field Service Technician

Walther Trowal LLC is a leading provider of surface finishing technology solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Field Service Technician who will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support and maintenance/installation services to our clients across various locations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and technical aptitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Field service repair, including diagnose, repair, and maintain complex machinery and equipment at customer sites.
    • Troubleshoot (remote and in-person) to determine root cause of equipment problem and recommend solutions to resolve technical issues promptly and efficiently with customers both in-person and remotely via telephone or video.
    • Perform machinery installations and upgrades of our equipment at customer location throughout North America. Installation including, but not limited to wiring, basic plumbing, electrical controls, basic mechanics, troubleshooting, equipment start-up and training.
    • Investigate, recommend, and quote spare parts depending on the problem.
  • Customer Service:
    • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering outstanding service and support.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
    • Provide training and guidance to customers on product operation and maintenance.
  • Travel and Logistics:
    • Travel extensively to client sites to fulfill service requests and project requirements.
    • Plan and organize travel itineraries, ensuring optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
    • Adhere to company travel policies and guidelines while on assignment.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of service activities, including reports, service tickets, and inventory.
    • Generate detailed service reports outlining work performed, recommendations, and any follow-up actions required.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate service activities and resolve technical challenges.
    • Provide input and feedback to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proficiency in equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and adapt to varying work environments. This position requires extensive travel, up to 80%.

Additional Preferences:

  • Experience with European CE-style controls and Siemens PLC's preferred but not required.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with basic machinery plumbing, mechanics, electrical control systems, motor controls/VFD's, basic hydraulics, basic HMI experience, etc.
