INTRODUCTION:
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District is dedicated to fostering a secure and supportive environment for its diverse student body. We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team, focusing on safety and parking operations across all District locations.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Sergeant plays a crucial role in assisting the Chief in the planning, organization, and management of daily safety and parking operations. This position operates with a degree of autonomy, guided by established policies and procedures. The Sergeant is responsible for training, assigning, and overseeing the work of team members while ensuring the effective management of safety and parking initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities related to safety and parking across District locations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for staff, students, and the public regarding safety and parking regulations.
  • Conduct regular patrols to ensure the safety of individuals and property, addressing any security concerns proactively.
  • Respond to emergencies and alarms, assessing situations and taking appropriate action.
  • Assist in developing emergency response strategies and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and review crime reports and safety documentation for accuracy.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote safety awareness and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety incidents and parking violations.
  • Foster positive relationships with staff and the college community to enhance collaboration.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay informed about safety practices and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 45 semester units of college credit or equivalent training.
  • Two years of relevant security or law enforcement experience.
  • Preferred: CA POST intermediate certificate or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications and licenses within a specified timeframe.
