POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District is dedicated to fostering a secure and supportive educational environment. We are looking for a dedicated individual to oversee the safety and parking operations across all District locations and events. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety of our diverse campus community.

As a key member of our safety team, the Sergeant will assist in the strategic planning, organization, and execution of daily safety operations. This position operates with a degree of autonomy within established policies and procedures, providing guidance and training to other staff members.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sergeant is responsible for:
Coordinating and managing the daily operations of safety and parking programs.Providing exceptional customer service and acting as a knowledgeable resource for staff, students, and the public regarding safety and parking protocols.Conducting regular patrols of the campus to ensure the security of individuals and property, and responding to alarms and emergency situations.Evaluating and addressing security threats, making necessary interventions, and coordinating emergency response strategies.Preparing and reviewing incident reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.Maintaining effective communication with supervisors and team members regarding safety incidents and operational updates.Fostering collaborative relationships with campus stakeholders to enhance safety initiatives.Participating in various meetings and training sessions to promote safety awareness and preparedness.Performing additional duties as assigned that align with the scope of this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.45 semester units of college credit or equivalent training.Two years of experience in security or law enforcement, or four years of military police experience.
Preferred:
California POST intermediate certificate or equivalent.Title IX Investigator Course Level I Certification.Certifications in emergency management and safety protocols.
