Job Overview

Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Analyst to join our Business Office.

Position Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexible hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Compensation: MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience, with hourly rates ranging from $18.50 to $23.04.

Job Responsibilities:

The Medical Billing Analyst is responsible for:

  1. Collecting payments from insurance providers, workers' compensation, and legal entities.
  2. Managing claim denials through resubmissions and appeals.
  3. Providing exceptional customer service to patients regarding outstanding balances.
Key Duties:
  1. Reviewing payments and explanations of benefits (EOBs) for accuracy and facilitating secondary billing processes.
  2. Analyzing eligibility and coverage denials to ensure correct insurance information is utilized.
  3. Contacting insurance carriers to address denials and request reprocessing of claims.
  4. Utilizing online resources to investigate claim statuses and eligibility.
  5. Monitoring aging claims to ensure they are properly filed and recorded.
  6. Adhering to carrier guidelines for corrected claims and appeals.
  7. Identifying trends related to carriers, services, and providers.
  8. Maintaining a manageable workload with timely follow-ups on assigned tasks.
  9. Handling incoming billing inquiries from patients and other stakeholders.
  10. Processing payment transactions and managing patient accounts.
  11. Assisting with daily mail processing as needed.
  12. Ensuring compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) during patient communications.
  13. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information at all times.
  14. Exhibiting professionalism and a positive attitude in all interactions.
  15. Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in medical billing preferred.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical billing systems is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and coding concepts.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills and good manual dexterity are essential.
