Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) is seeking a Full-Time Medical Billing Analyst to support our Business Office operations.

Position Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexible start times between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM.

Compensation: MRA provides a competitive salary range based on experience, starting between $18.50 and $23.04 per hour.

Role Summary:

The Medical Billing Analyst is responsible for managing accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of payments from insurance providers, workers' compensation, and other entities. This role involves addressing claim denials through resubmissions and appeals, while delivering exceptional service to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluate payments and explanations of benefits (EOBs) for precision, facilitating secondary billing processes, and applying adjustments within the billing system.
  2. Investigate eligibility and coverage denials, ensuring accurate insurance information is utilized for payment processing.
  3. Engage with insurance carriers to challenge denials and request claim reprocessing.
  4. Utilize insurance carrier websites to gather necessary information for claim resolution.
  5. Analyze aging claims, confirming they are filed correctly with the insurance carrier and documenting any denials.
  6. Adhere to carrier guidelines for corrected claims and appeals, understanding claim adjudication procedures and filing limits.
  7. Identify and report trends related to carriers, services, and office practices.
  8. Maintain an efficient workflow, ensuring no outstanding tasks exceed 60 days.
  9. Handle incoming billing inquiries from patients and other stakeholders.
  10. Process credit card transactions and manage patient account payments.
  11. Assist with daily mail processing and maintain equal distribution of call handling among team members.
  12. Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances, following Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) guidelines.
  13. Support patients in establishing payment plans when necessary.
  14. Uphold strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to electronic health record (EHR) protocols.
  15. Exhibit positive behaviors and maintain a collaborative work environment.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in medical billing preferred.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and medical billing systems is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to research carrier policies for appeals.
  • Organizational skills and self-motivation.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and coding concepts.
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable practices and FDCPA regulations.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking and hearing.
  • Visual acuity for reading documents and computer screens.
  • Good manual dexterity.
