The Financial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in the finance department, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer. This position is integral to the accounting team and is responsible for establishing financial governance by developing and executing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition across the company's entities.
  • Support the month-end closing process, including journal entries, financial reports, reconciliations, trial balances, and providing explanations for variances to the CFO.
  • Compile internal financial statements by collecting and analyzing data from the general ledger and various departments, and assist in preparing the monthly consolidated financials for the parent organization.
  • Ensure compliance with financial audits, liaising with external accountants, credit facility lenders, and inventory appraisers.
  • Prepare weekly forecasts regarding cash flow and line of credit availability in relation to receivables and inventory.
  • Manage the requirements for corporate tax filings.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Human Resources Manager/Director to ensure timely payroll processing for all employees.
  • Coordinate employee benefits programs and human resources needs with the Corporate Human Resources Manager/Director.
  • Assist the CFO and Corporate Financial Analyst in achieving financial objectives by forecasting needs, preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing variances.
  • Maintain financial controls by establishing a comprehensive chart of accounts, defining accounting policies and procedures, and implementing internal controls.
  • Engage in project work as directed by the CFO, COO, and CEO, along with other ad hoc responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a focus on Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification with a minimum of four years of experience in public accounting is preferred.
  • Experience managing diverse industries, including wholesale/distribution, retail, manufacturing, and construction.
  • Familiarity with international business operations.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly in computerized accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics - GP and spreadsheet applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
