Job Title: Echo Technologist II

At Chi, we are seeking a highly skilled Echo Technologist II to join our team. As a key member of our Cardiopulmonary department, you will be responsible for providing diagnostic testing and therapies to patients, including echocardiograms, pulmonary function studies, EEGs, Cardiac Stress Testing, and Holter-Monitoring.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide diagnostic testing and therapies to patients, including echocardiograms, pulmonary function studies, EEGs, Cardiac Stress Testing, and Holter-Monitoring.
  • Maintain patient safety through attention to detail, equipment safety checks, adherence to department policies, and effective communication with physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Provide patient orientation, procedure explanation, and pre and post diagnostic care to completion of test.
  • Assist patients with basic patient care needs.
  • Coordinate patient flow and the activities of the Cardiopulmonary department.
  • Responsible for proper maintenance of equipment, accreditation, and Departmental Performance Improvement.
  • Provide diagnostic tests to individuals in all age categories, including geriatric, adult, and adolescents, to aid in diagnosing disease processes.
  • Practice as a member of the healthcare team in a manner that prioritizes the needs of patients, physicians, peers, visitors, and other professionals.
  • Work in all patient care areas, including critical and non-critical locations.
  • Work to reflect the highest achievable quality as defined by departmental and professional standards.
  • Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Chi.
  • Participate in hospital/departmental quality projects that enhance skills and patient care outcomes.
  • Participate in hospital/departmental educational programs as required.
  • Accountable for certifications and records required to perform job.
  • Represent Chi in a professional and accountable manner in physician, community relations, and vendor interactions.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to follow the chain of command and regularly channel suggestions, criticisms, and questions to the appropriate person.
  • Support department-based goals and contribute to the success of the organization; serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Consistently enter correct exam information in the computer system.
  • Regularly practice aseptic techniques and utilize Universal Precautions.
  • Rotate weekend/call responsibilities in a professional and accountable fashion if applicable.
  • Provide the requesting physician with preliminary findings based on diagnostic criteria established for each procedure.
Requirements:
  • High School/GED
  • BLS certification (through an approved AHA program)
  • Registered through either American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - ARDMS (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International - CCI (RCS)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Perform the duties stated under position responsibilities.
  • Acquire adequate and accurate information for physician interpretation.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and general staff as part of a team in a professional manner at all times.
  • Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians, and other team members.
  • Respond calmly and effectively in stressful environments.
