Job Title: Fund Finance Solutions Analyst - Collateral Management

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is a leading global financial institution with a rich history and diverse range of financial services. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Finance Solutions Analyst to join our Collateral Management Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Origination Team in the underwriting and monitoring of investor capital commitments pledged as collateral for loans. This will involve developing a deep understanding of Subscription Secured Finance (SSF) and underwriting various types of private equity fund investors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in developing a career in banking and a desire to learn about underwriting various entities. We offer a comprehensive training program, allowing the candidate to build a career in fund finance while expanding their knowledge base.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform annual reviews of collateral within the Global Fund Finance Portfolio, including spreading financials, applying gradings, and evaluating the financial health of private equity fund investors.
  • Collaborate with various departments across SMBC's global banking platform to ensure alignment in underwriting standards and obtain industry/region-specific expertise as necessary.
  • Review collateral calculations prior to approving borrowing requests to ensure there are no over advances to clients.
  • Help manage an offshore team responsible for the spreading of certain financials.
  • Obtain insights from FFSD's proprietary portfolio of collateral information.
  • Research and prepare reports based on industry trends.
  • Oversee and produce standardized reports to communicate and monitor key risk levels within the SSF portfolio.
  • Responsible for the routine and ad hoc updates of deal and collateral values in a new reporting database.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of basic corporate finance and accounting, and ability to learn financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with corporate banking, bank regulations, risk and compliance factors, and regulatory matters a plus.
