Job Title: Communications Officer

Job Summary:

The Communications Officer will serve as a key member of the Urban League of Portland team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans to promote the organization's mission and goals. This role will work closely with senior leadership to craft and disseminate key messages, build relationships with media and stakeholders, and develop effective communication strategies to engage diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Craft and disseminate key messages to media, stakeholders, and diverse audiences.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media, stakeholders, and community leaders.
  • Develop and maintain the organization's brand and messaging.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to senior leadership on communications-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective communications strategies.
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or government setting.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and their applications in communications.
