Community Engagement Advisor

The City of Portland is seeking a Community Engagement Advisor to join the Portland Committee on Community Engaged Policing (PCCEP). As a member of this committee, you will play a crucial role in advising the Mayor and the Portland Police Bureau on community engagement efforts and policy reforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide recommendations to the Mayor and PPB on key areas of concern, including use of force and interactions with people who have or are perceived to have a mental health condition.
  • Review and make recommendations on PPB policies touching the DOJ Settlement Agreement and/or key areas of concern.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to PPB regarding community engagement initiatives already in progress and those needed in the future.
  • Attend PPB community academy and provide information to and solicit feedback from Portland's diverse communities through community events.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years old and live, work, play, worship, and/or go to school in Portland.
  • Have a strong understanding of community engagement and policing issues.
  • Be able to listen openly to community concerns and provide recommendations based on that feedback.
