Job Summary:

The role involves coordinating, organizing, and overseeing all engineering activities related to production processes. This encompasses sustaining engineering, the introduction of new products, and ongoing improvement initiatives. The position is pivotal in developing, executing, and maintaining production methodologies aimed at enhancing quality and operational efficiency, as well as formulating manufacturing strategies that bolster competitiveness.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and refine systems and procedures to boost manufacturing productivity while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct or supervise investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for quality deviations.
  • Evaluate production workflows to identify enhancement opportunities, such as standardizing procedures and improving product consistency.
  • Apply Lean methodologies throughout the facility, including 5S, Visual Management, and Kanban systems.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering teams to ensure effective communication regarding new product launches and modifications to existing products.
  • Manage capital equipment projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Ensure all machinery complies with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Oversee plant and site layout responsibilities.
  • Promote engineering principles through mentoring, training, and project evaluations.
  • Enhance shop floor productivity and manage controllable cost reductions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve plant efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee the procurement process for machinery, gauging, tooling, and equipment, including supplier selection and installation.
  • Manage and refine manufacturing standards, including machine capability, process mapping, quality control, and cycle times.
  • Provide coaching to supervisors and leads on Lean tools and shop floor performance management.
Competencies:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering setting.
  • Ability to swiftly diagnose manufacturing challenges related to design and tolerancing.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and ProE, with preferred experience in Inventor or Solidworks.
  • Familiarity with factory metrics and Lean principles, with Six Sigma experience considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of quality standards, capital equipment procurement, FMEA, APQP, and ISO 14001.
  • Understanding of various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, SAW, and SMAW.
  • Comprehension of basic design and manufacturing datum development and its impact on production processes.
  • Familiarity with welding standards and ASME codes.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles to establish robust manufacturing processes.
  • Thorough understanding of Manufacturing Engineering and quality assurance practices.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical disciplines.
Travel:
  • Willingness to travel as required.
