Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Development Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program, with a focus on building strong relationships with donors and securing significant gifts for the university.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic donor relations and stewardship plan that aligns with the university's goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, including identifying and cultivating new prospects, and stewarding existing donors to increase their level of giving.
  • Collaborate with development staff to identify and pursue major gift opportunities, and work closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategies for securing significant gifts.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship program, including events, communications, and other activities that recognize and thank donors for their support.
  • Manage and analyze data related to donor giving and stewardship, and use this information to inform development strategies and tactics.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that promotes the university's development efforts and recognizes the support of donors.
Requirements
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in development, stewardship, or a related field, preferably in higher education.
  • Proven track record of success in building and maintaining strong relationships with donors, and securing significant gifts for an institution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, faculty, staff, and senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and analyze complex data related to donor giving and stewardship.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires occasional travel and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with a team of development professionals, and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
