Job Summary

This is an hourly position in which overtime may be required as determined and approved by the Quality Manager. The Quality Control Inspector reports directly to the Quality Control Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspection
    • Inspect incoming parts by confirming specifications according to procedures/instructions; rejecting unacceptable materials and noting on inspection sheet.
    • Approve in process and finished products (including re-work) by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to Production Supervisor and/or Processors.
    • Notify the Quality Control Supervisor of any nonconforming or out of specification dimensions for action plan.
    • Perform First Piece Inspection for start-up, re-release, shutdown.
    • Work with Processor to achieve acceptable parts.
    • Assist operator to clarify acceptable and reject parts.
    • Authority to stop production to correct any quality problems.
    • Provide all appropriate samples for start of production (retain and go/no go samples).
    • Prepare retain samples, first shot and last shot samples.
    • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and logs daily usage of equipment.
    • Ensure nonconforming product is segregated and placed in MRB physically and entered in IQMS and properly identified to prevent intermingling with conforming product.
    • Maintain lot control by recording lot numbers on work orders, inspection reports and other applicable records.
    • Maintain go and no-go samples to ensure proper condition and relevancy.
    • Maintain retain samples, first shot and last shot samples.
    Records and Documentation
    • Maintain incoming inspection, standard inspection and calibration files as required.
    • Prepare customer required quality documentation for Shipping as required.
    • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into IQMS.

    • None
    Qualifications
    • Ability to interpret part prints, quality plans, work instructions.
    • Adept at working with Office software including Word, Excel and database input.
    • Ability to work with calipers, CMM, vision System, scales.
    Education and/or Experience
    • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
    • 1-3 years quality control experience preferred.
    Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
    Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations, make decisions and take charge of production situations with clear and calm demeanor.
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • None required.
    Physical Demands
    • Ability to frequently lift objects up to 30 pounds.
    • Extended hours standing.
    Work Environment
    • Manufacturing environment with associated noises, smells and temperatures.
