Compensation: Starting pay is $27.47 per hour, commensurate with experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The CDL Service Worker plays a vital role in supporting the Maintenance Department by executing various tasks related to the upkeep and operation of RFTA transit vehicles and equipment. Key responsibilities encompass fueling, cleaning, and managing the pullout of buses, including both conventionally fueled and specialized alternative fuel vehicles such as compressed natural gas and battery electric models.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate vehicles in strict adherence to RFTA policies, procedures, and all applicable Federal and Colorado traffic regulations.
  2. Conduct routine maintenance tasks including servicing, fueling, charging, cleaning, and washing of buses and automotive equipment; assist mechanics as required.
  3. Follow RFTA's protocols for effective use of automated fueling systems.
  4. Thoroughly clean bus interiors using both manual and powered equipment.
  5. Manage fare vaults from buses during fueling and download necessary data.
  6. Maintain a tidy work environment and monitor inventory of cleaning supplies.
  7. Safely operate and park buses and automotive equipment within the RFTA Bus Maintenance Facility.
  8. Document vehicle numbers, mileage, fuel, and fluid usage accurately.
  9. Perform inspections and maintain cleanliness standards in collaboration with Operations personnel.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and safety compliance initiatives.
  11. Engage in fleet-wide projects during periods of downtime.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a strong understanding of safety standards and practices relevant to both conventional and alternative fuel vehicles. Proactively ensure a safe working environment and participate in safety training and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for safety and documentation purposes.

Licenses and Certifications: Must hold a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License and obtain a Colorado State Commercial Driver's License with a B-P2 rating within 90 days of employment.

Experience: No prior experience is required; comprehensive training will be provided.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently, along with walking, climbing, and repetitive motions.
  • Work may occur outdoors in various weather conditions and involves contact with hazardous materials, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
  • Must be available for shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
