POSITION SUMMARY
The CDL Service Worker plays a crucial role in supporting the Maintenance Department by executing various tasks related to the upkeep and servicing of RFTA transit vehicles and equipment. Key responsibilities encompass fueling, cleaning, and managing the pullout of buses, including both conventionally fueled and specialized alternative fuel vehicles such as compressed natural gas and battery electric models.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate vehicles in strict adherence to RFTA policies, directives, and all applicable Federal and Colorado traffic regulations.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including servicing, fueling, charging, cleaning, and washing of buses and automotive equipment; assist mechanics as necessary.
- Follow RFTA's established procedures for effective use of automated fueling systems.
- Perform thorough cleaning of bus interiors using both manual and powered equipment.
- Manage the removal, emptying, and replacement of fare vaults during fueling operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies as needed.
- Safely operate and park buses and automotive equipment within the RFTA Bus Maintenance Facility.
- Document vehicle numbers, mileage, fuel, and fluid usage accurately.
- Check and process vehicles according to EVIR protocols, ensuring proper parking and record updates.
- Ensure timely pull-out of assigned vehicles.
- Transport and exchange buses or shuttles as required.
- Assist with street maintenance, including sanding, snow plowing, and vehicle recovery efforts.
- Conduct cleanliness inspections in collaboration with Operations personnel and complete annual inspections for FTA SGR reporting.
- Document all actions taken in a professional manner, completing necessary forms such as accident and incident reports.
- Participate in safety and compliance training as required, ensuring completion of all necessary programs.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through training sessions and educational seminars relevant to the role.
- Contribute to fleet-wide projects during downtime.
- Attend and participate in routine safety meetings and training sessions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Must be able to read, write, and understand English for safety and documentation purposes.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License and obtain a Colorado State Commercial Driver's License with a B-P2 rating within 90 days of employment.
- Underground Storage Tank (UST) Class C operator Certification
- Completion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Safety and Operation Training
- Completion of RFTA Electric Vehicle Familiarization and Safety Training
- Completion of RFTA Electric Vehicle Charging Training
- Completion of Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) training
- Demonstration of proper use of PPE as required by RFTA's BBP program.
- Completion of RFTA Defensive Driving Training
- Completion of RFTA Workforce Harassment Training
- Zonar EVIR Training
Experience
No prior experience required; training will be provided. Must possess adequate English comprehension for training and safety communication.
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
Typically requires up to three months of on-the-job training to perform effectively.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Physical demands include handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently, walking several miles daily, and engaging in repetitive motions.
- Work environment includes proximity to operating machinery and outdoor conditions.
- Must be able to pass a fitness for duty test and drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
- RFTA Vehicle Maintenance operates 24/7, and employees are expected to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as necessary.
