About the Role

The Financial Operations Manager role encompasses comprehensive financial oversight for the organization. Key responsibilities include leading the month-end closing process, compiling financial statements, management reporting, adhering to stringent month-end requirements, and formulating internal control policies and procedures. This pivotal role is integral to the strategic and operational planning of the company, acquisition activities, and both internal and external reporting. The position demands a high level of confidence, meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. This role reports directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all financial and accounting operations, including billing, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger management, and GAAP compliance across the organization.
  • Lead the accounts receivable team, providing training and performance evaluations.
  • Proactively engage with customers regarding overdue and impending overdue balances through phone and email to ensure timely payment collection.
  • Advise sales and finance management on recommended resolutions for customer collections and provide regular status updates.
  • Maintain effective communication with the sales team and Controller to ensure alignment on account status and collection strategies.
  • Deliver strong and dynamic leadership to the accounting operations team.
  • Provide comprehensive financial support across the organization, including monthly performance reports, cost accounting analysis, expense variance reviews, and recommendations for corrective actions as necessary.
  • Research and offer expertise on technical accounting topics.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting, including all account reconciliations.
  • Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Collaborate with the finance management team to enhance internal financial controls.
  • Engage with senior management to provide consultative support for planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, vendors, customers, and consultants as required.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors to ensure timely completion of year-end financial statements.
  • Promote innovation and serve as a role model for colleagues.
  • Participate in additional job-related duties and ad hoc reporting/analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on accounting.
  • C.P.A. designation is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role within an accounting or corporate finance team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting issues.
  • In-depth understanding of lender and private equity reporting requirements.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Sage300 and Sage Intelligence Report Manager is a plus but not essential.
