Job Description

The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing and improving production equipment, processes, and methods. This includes conceptualizing and developing prototypes, testing, and perfecting designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze company processes and procedures to develop process enhancement strategies.
  • Monitor staff performance and organizational processes.
  • Study time, methods, and speed involved in production to establish standard workflow rates and improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate the purchase of special equipment, materials, or parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Create product specifications and detailed assembly instructions.
  • Aid and report on work assignments, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
  • Recommend technology or computer aids, product design changes, and workspace layout modifications to achieve optimum quality and efficiency.
  • Develop a successful workflow, adapt to changing conditions, and develop new equipment, procedures, and policies to increase efficiency in all operations.
  • Work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction, providing support as needed.
  • Observe operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations, identify cost-saving opportunities, troubleshoot machinery, and report all deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to enhance productivity and staff satisfaction.
  • Engage with quality, engineering, and manufacturing regarding non-conforming materials (NCMs) to seek resolution to issues that meet both company and customer expectations.
  • Embrace a fast-paced environment that requires a sense of urgency in relation to the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Manage the transition from old products being discontinued to new products being introduced.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience in a similar engineering position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers, problem resolution skills, understanding of competitive markets, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to read and understand machining and assembly drawings.
  • Technical understanding with a hands-on approach.
  • Strategic analytical thinking to introduce new innovations to production processes.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to objectively review, understand, and organize data.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Process Improvement and Development using quality tools (5-whys, corrective action, 8-D, etc.).
  • Detailed-oriented, well-organized, self-starter, and ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and self-motivated.

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is primarily moderate to loud.
