Job Title: General Manager

The General Manager is a key role in our Salt and Straw team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our shop. This position requires a strong leader who can motivate and guide a team of high performers to deliver exceptional guest experiences, uphold company standards, and achieve financial and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Balance administrative duties with operational priorities, dedicating time to deployment and leading by example on flavor stories, guest experience, and station rotations.
  • Ensure food safety practices are followed and product integrity is audited throughout the day, completing daily checklists and developing AGMs and Shift Leads.
  • Write and execute Daily Visual Planner (DVP) to ensure team safety, scheduling breaks, and position planning during peak hours.
  • Build hiring targets, review applications, interview candidates, and facilitate hiring fairs, ensuring new hire documents are completed correctly.
  • Train and develop team members to uphold company values, leading new hire training and building training plans.
  • Coach team members on performance and conduct annual reviews, developing AGM and Shift Lead teams.
  • Write schedules that meet shop metrics and adjust staffing based on seasonal needs, verifying and approving Team Member timecard edits daily.
  • Work with DMs on equipment maintenance and track work orders, completing nightly counting of ice cream inventory and ensuring accuracy.
  • Complete till reconciliation and train AGMs and Shift Leads on cash handling policies, sampling ice cream daily to better communicate flavors to customers.
  • Build relationships with neighbors and communities, actively participating in product merchandising according to standards, and updating outages and customer menus.
Qualifications:
  • Food handlers card required within 30 days of employment.
  • 2-3 years experience in food service or hospitality required.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience as a leader/manager/supervisor required.
  • Experience leading a team of 20+ members in a high-volume retail/restaurant establishment.
  • Must work 1 weekend day and at least 5 shifts a week, available for at least two closing shifts a week, potentially until 1am, and available to work holidays.
