JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Academic Pathways Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and overseeing academic and career development initiatives in collaboration with educational institutions within the designated Learning Community. This role aids school staff in fulfilling the requirements for the execution of Individualized Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs). The Coordinator will focus on enhancing graduation rates by analyzing student data and working closely with school counselors to prioritize support for students. This position also encompasses support for Concurrent Enrollment, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and standard academic programs at the high school level. The Academic Pathways Coordinator will report directly to the building principal.

REQUIREMENTS

Education Level Details
Bachelor's degree required; experience in education, business, or industry preferred.

License / Certification Required
A valid driver's license is required. A Secondary Teacher's License is preferred.

Work Experience Required
A minimum of three years of experience in public or private education or in roles involving young adults in an educational context, with a focus on post-secondary and workforce readiness. A Professional Teacher license and/or relevant industry experience is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities Required
A strong interest in and ability to connect with a diverse student body.
Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
Effective interpersonal skills, including collaboration, teamwork, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making.
Familiarity with the strategic plan as it pertains to educational pathways.
Ability to engage effectively with staff, students, administration, and community partners in organizing meetings and events.
Capability to work independently and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
Proficiency in managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks.
Technical skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email, and internet usage.
Understanding of learning theories as they apply to both children and adults.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment regarding district policies and procedures.
Proficiency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is preferred.

KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General
  • Collaborate with administrators, educators, and counselors to ensure the effective implementation of district-wide and school-specific systems that align students with post-secondary planning opportunities, supporting their journey toward graduation and career readiness.
  • Encourage college and career success by organizing and overseeing experiential learning opportunities, including site visits, job shadowing, mentorships, apprenticeships, and internships for all students.
  • Assist in formulating and executing strategies for marketing, recruitment, and retention, with a focus on ensuring broad access for all students.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with parents and community stakeholders to foster commitment to student achievement and the belief that college and career aspirations are attainable.
  • Support counselors in preparing students and their families for pathway options; assist students throughout the application, enrollment, and registration processes, particularly regarding course selection and Individual Career & Academic Plans.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Principal or designated representative, Counselors, Teachers, and Parents/Guardians concerning students' readiness for post-secondary opportunities and their ongoing development of Individual Career & Academic Plans (ICAPs).
  • Plan, coordinate, and/or lead pathway-related events, such as learning presentations, workshops for students and parents, college tours, and visits to businesses and industries. Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends is required.
  • Engage in professional development related to academic and career pathways, including attending relevant conferences.
  • Stay informed about current trends in higher education and career opportunities.

Location: Work is performed in classrooms, offices, workstations, and meeting rooms. The position may require travel to various campuses and district meeting sites. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary.
