Objective

The Assistant Branch Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the management and administration of branch operations. This position ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, guarantees that members receive prompt and professional service, and oversees the delivery of a comprehensive range of services to both members and potential members. The Assistant Branch Manager also steps in as Branch Manager when required and is responsible for training, guiding, and assisting in the supervision of branch personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Branch Operations Management:
    • Assists in supervising branch operations, ensuring compliance with Credit Union policies, legal standards, and audit requirements; offers recommendations for enhanced effectiveness.
    • Maintains branch security; aids in the opening and closing of the facility according to established hours; conducts tests on security systems as assigned.
    • Supports Member Services Representative functions, including loan processing, handling certificates of deposit, and managing IRAs; facilitates direct deposit functions and safe deposit box services; assists in the opening of new Member accounts and loan disbursements.
    • Drives business development initiatives for the branch and actively promotes Credit Union products and services.
    • Serves as a Loan Officer, responsible for originating and closing Member loans within set policies and limits.
    • Completes necessary reports and documentation to ensure proper record-keeping of branch functions.
    • Assists in implementing changes to established policies and procedures within the branch.
  • Team Coordination:
    • Provides support, direction, and supervision to branch associates, including guidance for Concierge and Member Services Representatives.
    • Monitors and reviews the performance of branch associates, offering suggestions and support as needed.
    • Facilitates the orientation of new associates and conducts staff training sessions; ensures associates are well-trained in their respective roles; performs cross-training as necessary.
    • Assists in determining appropriate staffing levels and scheduling for associates.
    • Tracks individual performance and conducts appraisals; formulates and implements corrective actions as necessary.
  • Member Relations:
    • Ensures prompt and courteous resolution of member inquiries and requests; provides answers or refers appropriately.
    • Informs members about Credit Union services, products, and policies; promotes cross-selling of services.
    • Maintains the professional reputation of the Credit Union.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Acts as Branch Manager when necessary; assists with personnel functions as assigned.
    • Supports other areas as directed by Credit Union management.
    • Ensures that the work environment is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Develops a working knowledge of the Credit Union's data processing systems.
  • Acquires thorough knowledge of lending and financial services.
  • Registers with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) and maintains compliance with related training as directed by KEMBA.
  • Contributes to the development of new products and services.
  • Gains an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Engages in self-directed professional development through training and certification programs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with others beyond mere instruction:
    • Fosters positive relationships with coworkers and peers.
    • Engages in work activities that require negotiation, instruction, supervision, persuasion, or communication.
    • Responds constructively to feedback from supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Two to five years of relevant managerial and sales experience.
  • Proficient in operating related computer applications and business equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
  • Understanding of Teller and Member Services Representative functions.
  • Familiarity with Loan Officer responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid supervisory capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor and well-organized approach.
