Objective

The Assistant Branch Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the leadership and management of branch operations. This position is dedicated to ensuring adherence to established protocols while delivering exceptional service to members and prospective clients. The Assistant Branch Manager also steps in as the Branch Manager when required and is responsible for training and guiding branch personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight:
    • Assists in the management of branch operations, ensuring compliance with Credit Union policies, legal standards, and audit requirements; provides recommendations for enhanced efficiency.
    • Maintains branch security; aids in the opening and closing of the facility in accordance with operational hours; tests security systems as assigned.
    • Supports Member Services Representative tasks; engages in loan processing, managing certificates of deposit, and IRAs; oversees direct deposit operations and safe deposit box management; assists in onboarding new members and facilitating loan closings.
    • Drives business development initiatives and seeks to expand the member base; actively promotes Credit Union products and services.
    • Functions as a Loan Officer, responsible for originating and finalizing member loans within set policies and limits.
    • Completes necessary documentation and ensures accurate record-keeping of branch activities.
    • Assists in implementing updates to existing policies and procedures within the branch.
  • Team Coordination:
    • Provides guidance and support to branch associates, including Concierge and Member Services Representatives.
    • Monitors and evaluates the performance of branch staff; offers constructive feedback and support as needed.
    • Facilitates the onboarding of new staff and conducts training sessions to ensure comprehensive knowledge of job responsibilities; performs cross-training as required.
    • Assists in determining staffing needs and scheduling of associates.
    • Tracks individual performance and conducts evaluations; formulates and implements corrective actions as necessary.
  • Member Relations:
    • Ensures prompt and courteous resolution of member inquiries and requests; addresses member questions or refers them appropriately.
    • Informs members about Credit Union services, products, and policies; promotes additional services.
    • Maintains the professional reputation of the Credit Union.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Acts in place of the Branch Manager as needed; assists with personnel-related functions as assigned.
    • Supports other areas as directed by Credit Union management.
    • Ensures that the work environment is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Develops a solid understanding of the Credit Union's data processing systems.
  • Gains comprehensive knowledge of lending and financial services.
  • Registers with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) and maintains compliance with training requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of new products and services.
  • Acquires knowledge of Credit Union history, philosophy, organizational structure, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Engages in continuous professional development through training and certification programs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with others beyond mere instruction:
    • Fosters positive relationships with colleagues.
    • Engages in activities requiring negotiation, instruction, supervision, persuasion, or communication.
    • Responds constructively to feedback from supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Two to five years of relevant managerial and sales experience.
  • Proficient in operating relevant computer applications and business equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
  • Familiarity with Teller and Member Services Representative functions.
  • Knowledge of Loan Officer responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective supervisory capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor and organizational skills.
