About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Professor and Head of the Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the department's research, teaching, and extension programs, as well as overseeing the department's faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the department's research, teaching, and extension programs, and ensure their alignment with the college's and university's strategic goals.
  • Oversee the department's faculty and staff, including recruitment, professional development, and performance evaluations.
  • Manage the department's budget and resources, and ensure effective use of extramural funding.
  • Represent the department and college in front of state and federal agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in Entomology or a related field.
  • Current or previous rank of Professor with tenure.
  • At least two years of higher education administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and/or extension.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in leading interdisciplinary research teams and programs.
  • Proven track record of securing extramural funding and managing large budgets.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and stakeholders.
