Field Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to join our team at Flatiron Construction. As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects by providing technical engineering information and ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and contract specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Meet daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm materials, equipment, and resources are available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
- Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
- Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risk elements that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
- Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance and document activities in Company-approved methods and technologies.
- Notify team members and manager of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by management.
- Remit accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
- Review and approve daily timecards for all Company construction crews and work with Office Manager, payroll, and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries.
- Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project, and after work completes, initiating and managing certificates, inspections, and other documentation as needed.
- Work with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins and initiating and managing permits as needed.
- Conduct required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel and attend weekly safety meetings with field teams and project leadership.
- Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
- Assist the development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
- Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
- Reconcile job close-out checklists with owner representatives and field crews at the end of the project.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- 4+ years of construction engineering, scheduling, or design experience required.
- Intermediate knowledge of cost coding, cost savings, budget, and other project-related financial implications required.
- Intermediate knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices required.
- Intermediate interpersonal relationship skills, building new positive relationships towards a common goal required.
- Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawing, specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to the project required.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and communicate effectively with others required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment required.
- Skill in verbal and written communication required.
- Proven self-starter and self-motivated to learn and grow knowledge required.
- Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
- Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.
