Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Operating Officer to join our team at CLevelCrossing. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the firm, ensuring the smooth operation of our business and non-legal aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement plans to increase profitability and ensure effective execution of firm policies and procedures.
  2. Operational Policies and Procedures: Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement operational infrastructure, systems, processes, and personnel to support firm growth strategies.
  3. Budgeting and Profitability: Develop and manage budgets, and work with the CFO to ensure profitability of client engagements.
  4. Staff Leadership: Provide day-to-day staff leadership and management, motivating and leading a high-performance administrative team.
  5. Measurement and Reporting: Ensure measurement and effectiveness of internal and external operational processes, providing timely and accurate reports to senior leadership.
  6. IT and Cybersecurity: Maintain the firm's technology infrastructure and cybersecurity systems, supervising the Director of Information Technology.
  7. Leasing and Space Planning: Manage relationships with landlords, negotiate leases, and resolve issues related to facilities and physical infrastructure.
  8. Library and Information Services: Manage the firm's library, information services, and online research vendors and services.
  9. New Business Intake and Records Management: Manage new business and conflicts and records management systems.
  10. Business Insurance: Manage business insurance and relationships with brokers and consultants.
  11. Firm Leadership Meetings: Facilitate and participate in firm management committee and partner meetings.
  12. Administrative Directors and Managers: Manage and supervise administrative directors and managers.
  13. Procurement and Vendor Relations: Approve purchasing of office equipment and supplies, and act as a liaison with vendors.
  14. Disaster Preparedness: Ensure emergency protocols are in place and develop a disaster readiness plan.
  15. HR Matters: Oversee and manage the Director of Human Resources, including determining non-attorney hiring needs, recruiting, and implementing personnel rules and employment policies.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership ability and strategic mindset.
  • Professional and ethical acumen, with excellent communication skills.
  • Sound technical skills, analytical ability, and good judgment.
  • Well-organized and self-directed, with the ability to delegate as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain calm and professional demeanor in high-stress environments.
  • DEI training and experience in management at a law firm, preferably as a COO or in a similar capacity.
