Job Summary

The Grants Manager will oversee the grant proposal process, including implementation and disbursement of funds to Salvation Army territories. This role will cultivate strong working relationships with key funders to maintain sustainable funding and participate in grant-related presentations as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support grants received by The Salvation Army National Headquarters.
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process.
  • Oversee implementation per the operational and financial needs of the organization.
  • Keep relevant staff informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables.
  • Oversee invoicing, accounting, reporting, and other administrative functions.
  • Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation.
  • Analyze budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction.
  • Provide detailed reports to funders and The Salvation Army National Business Council.
  • Monitor paperwork and related documents connected with grant-funded programs.
  • Maintain records of all payments and receivables.
  • Provide training to new staff on grant management and reporting requirements.
  • Create financial analysis, funding scenarios, and projections.
  • Manage and track grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and government sources.
  • Create and maintain a grant calendar with department deadlines.
  • Maintain a digital grant portfolio.
  • Serve as NHQ point person for grant evaluation process.
  • Manage budget spending to guidelines and monitor allocation of funds.
  • Compile and analyze fiscal data.
  • Review budget change requests and coordinate with funder.
Grant Proposal Responsibilities
  • Perform research to identify available grant opportunities.
  • Research effective and authentic funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with National Social Services department.
  • Research, construct, and submit well-written proposals for funding.
  • Develop prompt responses to requests for proposals.
  • Manage the process of responding to funder's questions and requests.
  • Participate in grant-related presentations.
  • Initiate communication and set up meetings with foundations and funding sources.
  • Facilitate involvement of board members and staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with territorial and divisional staff.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of entire proposal.
  • Responsible for oversight of grant submittal process.
  • Assist with all progress reports and ensure compliance and responsiveness with funder guidelines.
Other Responsibilities
  • Serve as clearinghouse for organizational information required for grant applications.
  • Prepare status reports of funded initiatives.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with key funders.
  • May travel domestically to build grantor relationships and participate in capacity building.
