Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician I/II to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Accurately and efficiently process prescriptions, prepare medications, and distribute them to patients.
- Restock automatic dispensing cabinets as needed.
- Answer and screen telephone calls, directing them to appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Handle medications in accordance with department, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with the pharmacy team, insurance companies, and customers to resolve issues and ensure accuracy.
- Assist with basic clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist.
- Operate and maintain specialty machinery, equipment, and software necessary for job functions.
- Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas.
- Complete and document all assigned safety and quality activities in compliance with department procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
- Acceptance into pharmacy school or one year of pharmacy or healthcare-related experience.
- Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within the first 180 days.
- Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
