Job Overview

SUMMARY

The Production Engineering Specialist plays a pivotal role in collaborating with fellow engineers and the manufacturing team to facilitate the development, transition, and execution of projects. The responsibilities include:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Product Transition Management: Lead and assist in the seamless transition from engineering to production by adhering to established operational protocols.
  2. Process Optimization: Utilize knowledge of manufacturing efficiency, particularly Lean methodologies, to assess and strategize workflow, spatial requirements, and equipment arrangements. Initiate and drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve organizational objectives.
  3. 3D Modeling: Support the design of fixtures and tooling using approved 3D modeling software, ensuring the creation of accurately dimensioned drawings in accordance with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) standards. Proficiency in SolidWorks is highly regarded.
  4. Technical Documentation and Data Analysis: Lead the drafting and presentation of technical reports. Develop and implement procedures for engineering and management use. Strong writing skills and experience in data collection and analysis are essential, with familiarity in LabVIEW being advantageous.
  5. Presentation Development: Assist in the preparation and delivery of technical presentations and briefings, showcasing the ability to create and present professional content confidently.
  6. Sales Collaboration: Provide support to the sales team through proposal development, conducting analyses, and crafting solutions to meet customer needs, including preparing datasheets and cost/bid support materials.
  7. Hands-On Engineering Duties: Engage in practical engineering activities that support production through the design, fabrication, and testing of intricate prototype hardware, fixtures, and assemblies. This hands-on experience is crucial for professional growth and includes:
  • Machining
  • Brazing (using both torch and atmosphere furnaces)
  • Welding
  • Operation of furnaces
  • Assembly tasks
  • Test setup and execution based on developed plans and experimental procedures, analyzing test data to verify design compliance with functional and performance criteria.
  • Minor electrical tasks
QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the essential duties outlined. The following qualifications are required:

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with less than five years of relevant experience. Preferred disciplines include Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.

Language Proficiency:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, professional journals, and regulatory documents. Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals, with the capability to effectively present information to diverse audiences.

Mathematical Proficiency:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations relevant to engineering tasks, including heat transfer calculations and performance predictions.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various forms of instructions.

Computer Proficiency:

Competence in using Microsoft Office Suite, with preferred skills in SolidWorks, LabVIEW, Teams, and Oracle Cloud (ERP system).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
