Staff Nurse II

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse II to join our Neurosurgery team at UTHealth Houston. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs.
Responsibilities- Provide safe, effective, patient-centered care that is timely, efficient, and equitable.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, prioritizing and synthesizing data to inform nursing decisions.
- Implement standing orders for prescription refills and labs, as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.
- Develop and implement teaching plans to promote health, maintenance, and restoration of health.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, escalating critical results and issues in a timely manner.
- Exercise judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or healthcare professionals for other services or transitions in care.
- Perform onsite and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation.
- Current state of Texas Registered Nurse licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with one year nursing experience; OR Associates degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school with three years nursing experience; OR Nursing Diploma (3 year program) and two years nursing experience.
This position requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of patient acuity. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate effectively with patients and families, and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the unit.
