Project Assistant Engineer

As an Assistant Project Engineer at The Beaver Companies, you will play a key role in the planning and execution of successful mass excavating and construction projects. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation of work orders, schedules, drawings, field measurements, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of work orders, schedules, drawings, field measurements, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
- Attend preconstruction meetings and assist in preparing a list of action items and proposed solutions.
- Provide support to the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Contract Administrator in preparing job documents and materials.
- Analyze processes, assist with layout, construction sequencing, cost analysis, measure quantities, and support field employees as necessary.
- Ensure proper document control, quality assurance documentation, and construction project records are kept in accordance with expectations.
- Assist in monitoring the project site to ensure that the work is progressing on schedule.
- Develop solid working relationships with all project personnel.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- Able to read and comprehend contract documents and construction plans.
- Solid general math skills with the ability to complete field calculations.
- MS Office experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and employees at all levels.
- Ability to act in a safe manner at all times.
- High level of motivation and a self-starter attitude.
Education:
- Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent field experience required.
- Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
Travel:
Overnight travel and shift work may be assigned based on business needs.
