Job Overview

The Project Engineer role at The Beaver Companies involves assisting the project team in planning and executing successful construction projects. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with project personnel
  • Assist in preparing work orders, schedules, drawings, field measurements, subcontracts, and supplier agreements
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and assist with action item lists and proposed solutions
  • Support the Project Manager, Superintendent, and Contract Administrator with job document preparation and materials
  • Analyze and process project layout, construction sequencing, cost analysis, quantity measurement, and specification clarification as needed
  • Ensure proper document control, quality assurance documentation, and construction project records are maintained
  • Monitor the project site to ensure timely progress
  • Provide support to field personnel
Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend contract documents and construction plans
  • Strong general math skills with the ability to complete field calculations
  • Proficiency in MS Office and construction software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively interact with customers and employees at all levels
  • Ability to act safely at all times
  • High level of motivation and self-initiative
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; equivalent field experience considered
  • 2 years of construction experience with heavy/civil preferred
Travel and Physical Demands

Overnight or extended travel and shift work may be assigned based on business needs. The physical demands of this role include sitting, using hands to handle objects, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional standing, walking, and stooping are required. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
