Position Overview

This role is situated within the Office of the Secretary, Facilities, Information and Asset Management, Event Center. The Multimedia Production Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the operations of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Multi-Media Center. This includes managing all facets of studio and location video production, live and recorded audio programming, training sessions, editing processes, multimedia graphics, budget management, resource allocation, equipment upkeep, and overall production supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The Multimedia Production Coordinator:
  • Execute a diverse range of multimedia operations and practices, encompassing all elements of studio and location video production, training, editing, multimedia graphics, budget management, resource allocation, equipment maintenance, PowerPoint presentations, internet distribution of programs, and other electronic media and production direction.
  • Investigate best practices regarding audiovisual methods and operations within both the Federal and private sectors, assessing their relevance to the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Plan and manage all production aspects of agency features across various modal and programmatic themes, including educational, corporate, Federal, and broadcast media presentations, as well as satellite broadcasts, webcasting, video teleconferencing, training programs, event documentation, and instructional materials.
  • Engage with clients and/or coordinate evaluations of complex multimedia projects, exploring innovative means of presenting information in audiovisual formats.
  • Collaborate with and/or guide management in implementing change process concepts and techniques, evaluating organizational readiness for change, promoting organizational awareness, and leading change initiatives with a comprehensive understanding of the Department's mission, functions, and priorities.
The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in planning, organizing, and directing the production of video and audio programs.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: A one-year probationary period must be completed (unless already fulfilled).
  • TIME-IN-GRADE: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the specialized experience qualifications.

For the Grade 13 level, candidates must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, which includes:
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and directing the production of video and audio programs, including news and topical material, live and recorded interviews, and coverage of special events related to the agency's mission.
  • Experience in assisting with audiovisual production planning and execution.
  • Experience in establishing production schedules and ensuring timely execution of design projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be assessed based on your knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or competencies in the following areas:

  1. Project Management: Knowledge of principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring costs, work, and contractor performance.
  2. Multimedia Technologies: Knowledge of principles, methods, tools, and techniques for developing or applying technology using text, audio, graphics, or other media.
All types of experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations, will be credited.
