Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team as a Roadway Design Engineer - Project Lead. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of roadway projects for various clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with design teams to develop roadway projects for INDOT, LPA, and other clients.
  • Apply knowledge of Microstation, InRoads, and other design software to create detailed designs and plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with INDOT and LPA project development processes, design standards, and specifications.
  • Prepare quantity calculations, geometric design criteria, plans, cost estimates, special provisions, permit applications, and other contract documents as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with senior staff, supervisors, peers, and other support staff to ensure high-quality designs and project delivery.
  • Interact effectively with consulting firms, INDOT staff, local government agency staff, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT or Professional Engineering License in Indiana.
  • Ability to think critically, manage time, and problem-solve independently.
  • Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • High ethical standards, commitment to self-development, teamwork, and a desire to work in a deadline-driven team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Roadway Design.
  • Proven working knowledge of Microstation, InRoads, estimating software, and other design tools.
  • Drainage/Hydraulic Design experience, including small structures, storm and sanitary, urban systems, and/or bridge design.
  • Traffic signal design and/or lighting design experience.
  • Practical knowledge of materials/testing or pavement design/geotechnical applications within Roadway design.
  • Application of INDOT CAD and Design standards, and ability to transition to a future use of Open Roads Designer (ORD).
