This position will be based in our offices, where the successful candidate will enhance our technical roadway capabilities in collaboration with local municipalities and state transportation authorities across a diverse range of transportation engineering initiatives.

Position Overview

The selected individual will be integral to multidisciplinary design teams, tasked with planning and executing transportation projects for various clients, including governmental bodies and state transportation departments. The scope of work will encompass the reconstruction and rehabilitation of highways and roads, urban thoroughfares, bridge replacements, culverts, storm sewers, intersections, sidewalks, multiuse paths, and traffic control plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering designs, construction plans, and contract documents, along with technical reports and special provisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior technical personnel and other project disciplines.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineering staff.
  • Conduct calculations, quantity takeoffs, and prepare cost estimates.
  • Visit project sites to assess existing conditions and propose viable solutions.
  • Support agencies during the advertising and bidding phases.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Contribute to project proposals and presentations.
  • Assist in defining project scope and fee structures for technical tasks.
  • Engage in public involvement initiatives.
  • Support grant application processes.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in roadway engineering is preferred.
  • Possession of an Indiana Professional Engineer license or the capability to obtain licensure from another state within a specified timeframe.

Skills:

  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships with clients.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with Open Roads Designer Connect Edition is advantageous.

Work Environment:

  • Collaboration with colleagues in different locations is essential.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime as project demands dictate.
  • Flexible work schedules are available.
