Position Overview
Join the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a vital member of our team, where our personnel are our greatest asset. This role is situated within the Headquarters, specifically in the Business Management and Administration sector, under the Division of Business, Engineering, and Evaluations, Administrative Operations Branch.

Key Responsibilities
As a recognized authority within the Bureau, you will:
  • Provide expert guidance in the formulation of innovative policies and procedures for managing BLM records.
  • Lead national initiatives to transition BLM's paper records into electronic formats, enhancing public access and reducing storage costs.
  • Act as a secondary support to the BLM Records Officer and co-facilitate the BLM Records Management Board, ensuring effective strategies for record maintenance across various directorates and centers.
  • Promote the exchange of best practices within the Department and Bureau to establish efficient records management systems.
  • Serve as the technical expert in implementing records management policies, offering Bureau-wide leadership in records administration.
  • Interpret and apply policies from higher-level organizations, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the General Records Schedule from NARA and represent BLM in discussions with senior officials.
  • Collaborate with the Records Officer, Privacy Officer, and Data Administrator to develop comprehensive policies where data management intersects with records management.
  • Stay informed on advancements in records management technology and practices through active participation in relevant forums and training sessions.
  • Provide specialized training and technical direction to staff and field offices on records management processes.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate:
  • A minimum of one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, showcasing expertise in records management laws and policies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing electronic records management systems.
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve complex records management challenges in compliance with applicable regulations.
