Job Overview


The Financial Accountant/Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing the preparation of state and federal regulatory submissions for the organization, while also aiding in the development of periodic filings with the Securities Exchange Commission.

This role involves consolidating actual and projected financial data for Berkshire Hathaway Energy and its subsidiaries. Additionally, the position supports various financial reporting initiatives and business-related analyses as needed.

Key Responsibilities

This is a multi-level posting

1. Oversee the compilation of periodic reports for state and federal regulatory bodies. Gather data from various departments within the organization and conduct quality assurance reviews of this information. (30%)

2. Assist in the creation of 10-Q and 10-K submissions to the SEC, including tagging information in the required XBRL format and supporting the senior accountant in other aspects of these filings. (30%)

3. Execute journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for holding company entities. Ensure the accuracy of general ledger details and complete monthly reconciliations of assigned activities. (10%)

4. Analyze and present financial data for management or external stakeholders. This may include reporting for external auditors, responding to regulatory inquiries, and any other ad-hoc analysis of interest to BHE staff, MEC management, and business unit leaders. (10%)

5. Provide technical insights to aid in the formulation of ten-year plans and forecasts. (10%)

6. Present findings from research and analyses, offering recommendations in both written and verbal formats. Utilize computer-based systems and software to compile and prepare reports. (5%)

7. Manage special projects and develop relevant financial models as necessary. (5%)

8. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

This is a multi-level posting

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. MBA or CPA is preferred.

- Zero to two years of experience in accounting, financial planning, finance, public accounting, or related fields for the accountant position.

- Two or more years of experience in accounting, financial planning, finance, public accounting, or related fields for the senior accountant positions.

- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Database2, and PowerPoint; demonstrated ability to leverage computer systems and applications for analytical purposes.


- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to create and deliver presentations.

- Leadership qualities, effective interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

- Strong project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
