Job Title: Patient Care Coordinator

Manhattan Specialty Care is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our clinical support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to our clinical team, including coordinating patient care and front-end revenue cycle processes.
  • Educate patients about the patient portal and encourage patient participation.
  • Assist in explaining pre-procedural instructions and recommend improvements to workflows to ensure maximum schedule utilization.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.
  • Directly assist the medical director and director of operations with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Respond to patient inquiries, resolve non-clinical inquiries and complaints, and participate in special projects.
  • Answer incoming phone calls to screen patients, answer questions, or schedule appointments.
  • Make outbound phone calls to patients, pharmacies, or insurance companies to resolve issues or schedule appointments.
  • Ensure that providers are scheduled for best use of time and support clinicians by responding to telephone encounters.
  • Schedule patient follow-up appointments as requested and reach out to patients who are late to tele visits.
  • Send referral letters to referring physicians and monitor and complete tickets via e-Clinical Works support portal.
  • Troubleshoot minor technological issues or escalate them to our helpdesk and liaison between call center agents and medical assistants.
Essential Functions:
  • Medical office reception experience, including use of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) in your daily work.
  • Answering phones and multitasking in a fast-paced clinical practice.
  • Scheduling patient appointments and insurance verification.
  • Understanding of patient privacy rules and experience in a HIPAA-compliant practice.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service.
  • Understanding of general medical practice workflows and ability to multitask accurately.
  • Enjoy working in a team-based environment and training in New York with occasional days in the office.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field, or the equivalent preferred or 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent oral/verbal communication and customer service skills required. PC skills including Microsoft Office required.
