Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate EC Bus Monitor to join our team at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. As a key member of our transportation team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students with special needs while on the bus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist bus drivers in managing student behaviors on the bus, promoting a positive and respectful environment for all students.
  • Ensure students with special needs are properly secured and cared for during transportation, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Partner with bus drivers to provide exceptional customer service, responding to student needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, or other notable events that occur during transportation, reporting to supervisors as necessary.
  • Collaborate with transportation staff and school administrators to develop and implement strategies for improving student safety and well-being.
  • Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of the bus interior, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for students.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience working with children and students with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, bus drivers, and school staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive, calm attitude in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures and ability to respond accordingly.
Working Conditions

This is a 9-month position, requiring regular attendance and punctuality. The EC Bus Monitor will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, parents, and staff on a daily basis.
