Job Title: Exceptional Children Coordinating Teacher

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Exceptional Children Coordinating Teacher to support the district's special education programs. The successful candidate will work closely with schools and outside agencies to coordinate, plan, and assist with instructional programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and coordinate IEP meetings as needed
  • Coordinate the scheduling of Exceptional Children (EC) staff and resources
  • Collaborate with compliance facilitators to ensure accurate and complete paperwork
  • Develop and implement improvement plans at schools, as assigned
  • Facilitate progress monitoring and provide co-teaching support to EC and general education teachers
  • Model evidence-based instructional strategies and provide professional development
  • Support beginning teachers and review requests for district support and outside representation
  • Review behavior packets and compliance reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Monitor task completion and assist in data collection and analysis
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • At least three years of teaching experience, with valid NC Teaching Certification in Special Education
  • Master's degree in Special Education preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment and maintain confidentiality
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a moderately noisy office environment, with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The ability to remain in a stationary position for required meetings and work, as well as move to other work locations, is required.
