Senior Claims Examiner - Employment Practices Liability

Position Summary:

This role transcends the conventional Claims position.

When envisioning a career in insurance claims, you might picture typical scenarios like property damage or vehicle incidents. However, a position in Employment Practices Liability places you at the forefront of significant workplace issues that have garnered extensive media attention, including movements addressing workplace equality and social justice.

In a digital-first environment, you will leverage your analytical capabilities to address workplace-related claims effectively.

We will equip you with knowledge in Employment Law, contractual agreements, and claims management. You will collaborate with defense attorneys and our clients to resolve matters related to discrimination, harassment, and other employment-related claims.

The work is engaging, and the atmosphere is one of teamwork and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a collaborative work environment by sharing innovative ideas, demonstrating teamwork, and maintaining a high level of motivation and positive conduct to achieve organizational goals.
  • Conduct thorough and timely investigations into coverage, liability, and damages.
  • Formulate, document, and implement effective strategies to facilitate early and cost-efficient resolutions for assigned claims.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with management and business partners, as well as during virtual mediations.
  • Utilize technology systems and tools efficiently to manage and track your caseload.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, underwriters, and agents.
  • Consistently apply sound claims handling practices to ensure compliance in investigation, coverage, loss assessment, and case management.
Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred: College Degree. A Juris Doctor degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in handling complex claims or working in a legal capacity.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong commitment to delivering superior performance that adds value to the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build rapport with various internal and external contacts.
  • Adept at evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting technical information.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated initiative and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new concepts and situations.
  • A willingness to employ creative thinking to navigate challenges and devise innovative solutions for client issues.
  • Internal pre-litigation candidates must possess authority for administrative charges and demand letters.
Additional Requirements:

Licensing: Candidates must obtain and maintain the necessary adjuster licenses within a specified timeframe after hiring.

Training: Chubb provides a comprehensive training program led by managers, claim examiners, and defense counsel, combining classroom instruction with practical experience to prepare our Claim Examiners for full claim handling responsibilities. Training will encompass a wide array of knowledge and skill development, including:
  • Building relationships with internal clients (e.g., underwriters).
  • Learning to analyze initial claim reports.
  • Gaining an understanding of the legal framework.
  • Mastering effective investigation and documentation techniques.
  • Understanding Chubb's products to accurately determine coverage.
  • Interpreting and applying insurance contracts.
  • Negotiating settlements effectively.
