Position Overview

We are in search of a Lead Teacher with the necessary DCF credentials (or in the process of obtaining) to spearhead our Educational Programming.

Compensation will be determined based on current qualifications: a competitive salary is available for candidates holding a degree in Early Childhood Education, Montessori certification (AMS/AMI), and DCF director credential; we are also dedicated to supporting our educators in obtaining further qualifications.

The Lead Teacher will be tasked with overseeing all aspects of the academic program, including staffing, training, and the provision of educational activities.

This role will involve collaboration with the administrative team to develop programs and explore grant opportunities.

This is a full-time, annual position;

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, child-directed education to preschool-aged children within small teacher-to-child ratios.

We are committed to facilitating certifications in Montessori and DCF requirements as needed.

Bilingual proficiency (English-Spanish) is advantageous, though proficiency in English is essential.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:
  • Experience as an early childhood educator for preschool-aged children (3-6 certification)
  • DCF staff certificate is mandatory for working with preschool-aged children; director credential is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with families and team members.
  • Department of Education teaching certificate is highly desirable (salary adjustments will be made for DOE certification)
  • Montessori certification or the ability to pursue certification immediately.
  • Thorough understanding and capability to implement all regulatory processes.
  • Engagement in parent and staff meetings related to the programs served.
  • Involvement in grant applications and professional development opportunities; training will be provided for interested candidates.
  • Participation in planning for summer programming.
