Compensation: Starting pay rate of $23.03 per hour for a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a college degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline, with a minimum of 18 documented credits in Early Childhood Education.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in childcare services, ideally within a Head Start Program.
  • Completion of DCF 45-hour training certificate.
  • Certification in First Aid from Red Cross.
  • Health clearance and Tine test certification.
  • Successful completion of a level 2 background check and drug screening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and educational atmosphere of the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants in daily lesson planning and ensure the health and safety of all children.
  • Implement VPK instruction and adhere to health and safety protocols.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and screenings in a timely manner.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, fostering positive relationships.
  • Work with all staff to uphold program philosophy and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in weekly planning sessions with colleagues to develop age-appropriate activities that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative development.
  • Utilize effective strategies to prevent and manage challenging behaviors.
  • Encourage children's self-esteem through active listening and positive reinforcement.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports, including attendance and developmental records.
  • Adapt to changing conditions to enhance program quality.
