Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking dedicated Assistant and Lead Educators for our Early Childhood Program:

Position Overview: Responsible for the comprehensive organization and nurturing environment of the classroom; Plans or assists in the development of daily educational activities while ensuring the health and safety of the children; adheres to health and safety regulations; engages with parents and fosters positive and professional relationships with families and colleagues;

This role requires a strong commitment to education and a genuine passion for working with young children. The Teacher Assistant should be open-minded and ready to implement strategies that promote critical thinking and other methodologies.
  • Collaborates with all staff and trainees, including substitutes, to ensure that program philosophy, values, and objectives are met, while maintaining Early Childhood Program Standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Meets weekly with the teacher's assistant to develop lesson plans aligned with the program's curriculum that support the growth of children's cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and creative abilities. Presents activity plans weekly to the Education Specialist.
  • Facilitates learning through diverse social experiences, classroom arrangements, and supportive materials that advance program goals and promote independent and group management in a safe environment that caters to children's health and safety, as well as their needs for physical activity, sensory engagement, fresh air, rest, and nourishment.
  • Creates a portfolio for each child, showcasing their work, to be shared with parents at the conclusion of the academic year.
  • Addresses challenging or disruptive behaviors through thoughtful environmental design, schedules that accommodate children's needs and abilities, effective transitions, and engaging activities.
  • Promotes a positive self-image in children through active listening, encouragement of independence, and both verbal and non-verbal reinforcement. Utilizes positive, non-punitive discipline techniques. Guides children in managing their behavior through constructive and appropriate methods.
  • Prepares and submits timely and accurate reports, which may include attendance records, program reports, daily meal counts, developmental assessments for each child, timesheets, leave requests, fee collections, and incident reports.
  • Adapts to evolving and challenging conditions in ways that enhance program quality. Identifies health and safety risks and safeguards children from harm. Prepares and serves meals and/or snacks.
Work Schedule:
  • 8-hour shifts: 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; 8:15 AM - 5:15 PM; 8:30 AM - 5:45 PM
  • Monday to Friday
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (Preferred)
Experience:
  • 3+ years in Early Childhood Education (Preferred)
License/Certification:

- VPK Endorsement from DCF (Required)
  • CPR / First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • DCF 45 childcare hours certification (Preferred) Assistance available for acquiring this for Assistant teachers
Compensation:

$35,000 - $45,000
