Job Title: Controls Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert-level support for complex software, controls, and automation problems on the shop floor.
  • Perform electrical and software automation commissioning tasks, including downloading software, firmware, and configuration files to machine controllers, HMI's, servo drives, VFD's, and other devices.
  • Define dipswitch or Ethernet IP address settings of connected devices.
  • Perform I/O, motion, and communications testing for equipment to ensure proper wiring and functionality of connected devices.
  • Efficiently build and modify mechanical assemblies per the bill of material and assembly drawings while using hand and power tools.
  • Efficiently wire machines, panels, and control circuitry (up to 575 Volts), adding electrical components based on project layouts and wiring diagrams (per NFPA 79).
  • Successfully troubleshoot and problem-solve live power and control circuitry with test equipment.
  • Lead efforts to perform and document machine setups of all recipe/machine parameters to optimize machine performance.
  • Conduct successful customer factory acceptance tests, demonstrating and training customers on equipment operations and functionality.
  • Support and coordinate activities and controls and software improvements with the controls engineering team.
  • Observe all safety regulations, ensuring proper protective wear and tools, and inform supervisors of any safety issues or hazards.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical degree in Packaging, Automation, or Robotics.
  • 5 years of job-related experience in building automated capital equipment.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on factors such as location, role, degree, relevant skill set, and experience. Total rewards include salary, bonus (if applicable), and benefits.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $73,000.00 to $92,000.00 based on a full-time schedule.
