Job Overview:

Position Summary:
The selected candidate will collaborate with project teams on civil engineering and associated technical tasks.

This role primarily focuses on the renewable energy industry and power distribution, with opportunities to engage in various other sectors as required.

Responsibilities will encompass supporting engineers and clients in the execution of wind and solar initiatives, drafting construction documents, conducting site assessments, performing feasibility analyses, designing roadways, grading, stormwater management, compiling technical reports, and executing additional related duties.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
Minimum of two years of relevant experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word and possess intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD-based civil design tools
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
Capability and readiness to undertake fieldwork independently or as part of a team, whether locally or in remote locations, as necessary
Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship from Barr
Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

Desirable Qualifications:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within one year
Experience in drafting plans and specifications, evaluating alternatives, and generating quantity takeoffs and cost assessments
Experience in construction administration, including reviewing and responding to payment requests, submittals, and claims, as well as interpreting plans, specifications, and bid documents
Proficiency in creating PowerPoint presentations, memos, and report text and graphics
Two or more years of relevant work experience
Experience with Civil 3D
Familiarity with GIS-based software
Strong enthusiasm for renewable energy projects

Work Arrangement:


This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of office and remote work.

The role is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

Additional Requirements:


Candidates must be able to work in environments with challenging terrain typical of construction sites and must be capable of entering and working in facilities with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions common to industrial settings.

The position will necessitate lifting or transporting field-testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to assignment on these sites. Candidates will be required to participate in a drug screening program as requested by clients.

Compensation:
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $67,000-$80,000/year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this role may also qualify for a discretionary cash bonus.
