Job Summary

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Executive Director of Community Services. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of community programs, managing staff, and developing services to support the Syracuse Area Services Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with local and county stakeholders, monitoring and evaluating policy developments and issues.
  • Contract Negotiations: Function as the primary representative in contract and programmatic negotiations with city, county, state, and partner agencies, as well as key charitable funding sources.
  • Program Development: Participate in state and regional networks to advance the goals and mission of Salvation Army programs, in conjunction with the Divisional Social Services Director.
  • Fiscal Management: Monitor budgets, grants, and overall fiscal operation of all programs, ensuring accountability of program service delivery and outcome measurements.
  • Operational Support: Direct and shared liaison with Area Coordinator/Director of County Operations to ensure operational support from government and United Way for all program services.
  • Funding Partnerships: Identify and cultivate potential funding partners for the Army's strategic initiatives in Onondaga County, Central New York Region, and the Empire State Division.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's, MBA, or MSW degree.
  • Experience: Ten years of experience, with five years in a leadership capacity for an agency with publicly funded programs.
  • Leadership Skills: Competency in human resources, state and local government relations, program development, and implementation.
  • Driver's License: Valid NYS driver's license meeting The Salvation Army's insurance requirements.
