Job Title: Executive Director of Community Services

The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director of Community Services to lead our community programs in the Syracuse Area. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our community programs, managing staff, developing services, and supporting functions for the Syracuse Area Services Division.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with strategic partners at the local and county level, monitoring, evaluating, researching, and responding to local, county, state, federal policy developments and issues.
  • Function as the primary representative in contract and programmatic negotiations with city, county, state, and partner agencies, as well as key charitable funding sources such as the United Way of Central New York.
  • In conjunction with the Divisional Social Services Director, participate in state and regional networks to advance the goals and mission of all Salvation Army programs.
  • Monitor budgets, grants, and overall fiscal operation of all programs.
  • Manage and monitor operational support from Government and United Way for all program services to ensure accountability of program service delivery and outcome measurements.
  • Direct/shared liaison with Area Coordinator/Director of County Operations to the Advisory.
  • In conjunction with development staff, help identify and cultivate potential funding partners for the Army's strategic initiatives in Onondaga County, Central New York Region, and the Empire State Division.
Qualifications:
  • Masters, MBA, or MSW and Ten (10) years of experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a leadership capacity for an agency with publicly funded programs.
  • Leadership capabilities with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Competency in human resources, state and local government relations, program development, and implementation.
  • Valid NYS driver's license that meets The Salvation Army's insurance requirements.
